Karen Parry set up the business in 2005 to focus her love of domestic architecture and took the decision from the very beginning to concentrate solely on houses – creating dream homes, either from scratch, or more often working with client’s existing properties to make the best possible use of what they already have. From very small beginnings at the kitchen table the company has grown to employ several staff and we became a limited company in 2014.
We specialise in domestic architecture & design – alterations, conversions, extensions and new builds. Our service is bespoke for each client for property type’s ranging from traditional properties to modern new builds in need of some refining for a new household. Our staff our passionate about domestic architecture and working with clients to find inspiring and innovative solutions. Our client centred approach ensures clients are involved in the process and decisions making. It’s not about imposing our designs on clients rather providing solutions that can be developed collaboratively.
Our team is friendly and approachable and we try to take the mystery out of what architects do, while remaining professional at all times. We work with a trusted team of consultants and builders to ensure that great service runs throughout the whole project from start to finish. We have a straightforward approach to services and fees, and publish a rough guide to fees on the website as clients often have no idea what to expect when they first contact an architect. Most of our work comes from personal recommendations and we build close relationships with our clients which continue long after the project has been completed.
Happily, the practice doesn’t just service Glasgow. Since 2016, KPA has been named architectural practice / Best Architect of the year at the Scottish Home Improvement Awards 8 times. As a result of this success, we have an office in Edinburgh which, opened in September of 2023.
